Hazel A. Dickerson, 90

MILTON - Hazel A. Dickerson, of Milton, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008. She was 90. Mrs. Dickerson was born Oct. 5, 1918, to the late Elizabeth and Walter D. Bailey of the Lincoln/Milford Area. Hazel was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking and spending time with her family. Hazel was a talented seamstress and would hand sew teddy bears and dolls for her family and friends. She was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed short stories pertaining to rural life in the early 20th century. For most of her adult life she kept a daily diary. She had a love of animals and delighted in caring for them throughout her life, especially her toy Manchester's. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Weldon Dickerson; a stepson, Ronald Dickerson of Lincoln; a brother, Lawrence Bailey, of Lincoln; and a sister, Florence Landis of New Castle. She is survived by a son, Vaughn W. Dickerson of Milton; two grandchildren, Erin Dickerson of Millsboro and Erik Dickerson of Seaford; a step-daughter-in-law, Shirley Dickerson of Lincoln; a brother, Oscar Bailey of Georgetown; two sisters, Sylvia Williamson of the Country Rest Home in Greenwood, and Bessie Christopher of Seaford; six step grandsons, five step-great-grandchildren and six step-great-great-grandchildren. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hazel's memory may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Milton.
