Harvey C. Barrett

Hartly - Harvey C. Barrett, Sr. went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, in Pinnacle Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Smyrna.
Harvey was born May 7, 1931, in Wilmington. He was a truck driver for many years, and had won an award from the State of Delaware for driving 1,000,000 miles accident free and being a safe driver. In 1987 he won the truck rodeo for the State of Delaware, and went on to compete for the National Title. Harvey was a hard worker, who was also very fun loving and friendly.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary (Curlee) Burris; his son, Harvey C. Barrett, Jr.; a brother and two sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maggie; his children, Harry Barrett and wife, Bernice, of Wilmington; Leona Barrett, of Dover; Christine Mosley and husband, William, of Dover; Floyd Heath and Lucy, of Ellendale; Richard Romeo, of Texas; Ronald Romeo, of Wilmington; Lela Harden, of Dover; Lisa Dunning, of Dover; Joeann Jordan and husband, Ernie, of Felton; Patrick Lawrence and wife, Sandy, of Henderson, Md.; James Lawrence and wife, Jennifer, of Smyrna; Sharon Davis, of Connecticut; and Brenda Henry and husband Mike, of Smyrna; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends, Roy and Sandy; as well as extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may view from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720-1633.
