MILFORD - Harry Watts George, a resident of Heritage at Milford for five years, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, after a short illness, in Milford. He was 92.
Mr. George was born in the mill town of Remlig, Texas, on Sept. 2, 1914. He was the only child of Marion Mae (Watts) George of Columbia, Miss., and Harry Gardner George of Mayfield, Ky.
He attended Texas public schools in Beaumont and Kirbyville and graduated in 1940 from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
Mr. George taught school in Walker and Newton counties prior to being employed as supervisor of the Federal Defense Training Program, training civilians for jobs at local shipyards. He retired as assistant secretary and treasurer of Neches Butane Products Co., Port Neches, Texas, with 33 years of service.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Port Neches. As a resident of Heritage at Milford, Mr. George enjoyed services provided by First Baptist Church, Milford.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Vergil Davis of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Molly Stadalis, Sam Davis and Libby McMichael; and six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Evan, Kathryn, Kayla, Aidan and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beula Dee Carter George; and a son, Harry Dee George.
Funeral services will be Friday in Levingston Funeral Home, Port Neches.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 903 Ave. B, Port Neches, TX.
