MILTON - Harry J. Betts, Jr. passed away peacefully under Hospice care at Harrison House on Saturday, June 23, 2018. Harry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, tinkering around in the garage, and being outdoors. He attended the Grace Church of Milton.
Harry served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked in the hosiery mill in Milton and retired from General Foods after 22 years of employment.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Baker; and his brother, Nelson Betts. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Hilda Betts; his daughter, Brenda Coverdale and husband, James R. Coverdale; his granddaughters, Wendy and Regina Coverdale; his sister-in-law, Leah Betts; and nephews; as well as extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 1 p.m., with a time of visitation starting at 12 p.m. Burial will be held at Henlopen Memorial Park, 28787 Lockerman Rd., Milton, immediately following the service with military honors.
Family suggests memorial gifts, in lieu of flowers, be made to Grace Church at 514 Union St. Milton.
