Harry C. 'Porky' Logan Sr., 82

NEW CASTLE - Harry C. "Porky" Logan Sr. of New Castle died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, in Wilmington Hospital. He was 82.

Mr. Logan was the son of the late William and Mary (Schroeder) Logan.

He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and held a membership with the Korean War Veterans Club.

Mr. Logan began his service to the community as a young man, joining the Holloway Terrace Fire Co., where he continued through 60 years of dedication. During his tenure at Station 20, he served as firefighter, pump operator, engineer and mentor. He was employed for 35 years with Local 42, insulation and asbestos removal.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and time at his vacation home in Ocean View at the beach.

Mr. Logan was a member of the New Castle Bull Hill Boat Club, and a past member of the Local 42 Bowling League.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jewel Logan, in 1999; a daughter, Brenda J. Logan; a grandson, Staff Sgt. Steven Logan; and a sister, Lucille Gott.

He is survived by his children, Harry C. Logan Jr., Mary E. "Sis" Maxwell, William E. "Bill" Logan, Beverly A. "Tiny" Blades and Kenneth H. "Satch" Logan; a brother, William A. Logan; a sister, Marie Nesce; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Holloway Terrace Fire Co., 700 West Ave., Holloway Terrace, New Castle.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the fire house.

Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Holloway Terrace Fire Co., P.O. Box 684, Manor Branch, New Castle, DE 19720.
