LATROBE, Pa. - Harriet Myer of Latrobe, formerly of Dover, Del., died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was 89.
Mrs. Myer was born June 19, 1917, in Bridgeport, Conn., daughter of the late Edward Mackie and Laura (Stout) MacCutcheon.
She was a graduate of the Pratt Institute of New York, with a degree in fine arts. She was also a graduate of the University of Delaware with a master's degree in fine arts.
Her art was displayed throughout Delaware and some of her pieces are permanently on display in museums in the area.
Mrs. Myer was a member of the American Pen Women's Association and the Dover Art League. She was a Methodist by faith but she also attended the Presbyterian Church, Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fredric E. Myer.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Scott of Schaumburg, Ill., and Nancy E. Myer of Latrobe; a son and a daughter-in-law, David and Anita Myer of Lowell, Mass.; a brother and a sister-in-law, Edward and Jean MacCutcheon of Cornwall, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Alice Massey of Virginia; eight grandchildren, Tracy Scott, Laurie Boggs and her husband, Jon, Blake Anderson, Travis Anderson and his wife, Rhonda, Heidi Anderson and her wife, Diane, David Myer Jr. and his wife, Amy, Diane Myer, and Arden MacNaught and her husband, Keith; and eight great-grandchildren, Mary Myer, Summer Myer, Claire Myer, Blake Anderson Jr., Trey Anderson, Wallace Azaroff, Sarah Matthews and Joshua Matthews.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bridgeville Cemetery. The Rev. Bob McKim will officiate.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Gulf Tower, 707 Grant St., 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1916.
