GEORGETOWN - Harold Lee Wingate, of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Atlantic Shores in Millsboro. He was 71. Mr. Wingate was born in Laurel, De, the son of the late Willey Wingate and Willa ( Wilkerson) Wingate. He was self-employed in several businesses for 30 years and was a custodian for the Indian River School District, retiring in 2007. He was also a promoter for the Georgetown Speedway and the Delaware State Fair Stock Car Racing. He served in the National Guard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Wingate. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Cordrey Wingate; one son, Butch Wingate of Georgetown; one brother, Clarence Wingate of Seaford; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Grace Davis, and Dennis and Marlene Magee; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
