Gretchen Nelson
Wagner, 86
With great sorrow and heavy hearts the Wagner, Nelson, and Paladino families announce the passing of our beautiful, kind, loving, generous and hilarious mother, aunt, and grandmother.
Gretchen Nelson Wagner of Dover died on February 27, 2023. Daughter of Raymond Chester Nelson and Wilimine (Silloway) Nelson of Minneapolis, she attended Carlton College where she met and married Fredrick Wagner. Married 25 years, she was a loving and devoted military officer's wife and mother. She loved her job of more than 35 years at Dover Litho Printing Company, she loved league bowling and the countless teams she carried during her 46 years in Delaware, and moreso she loved the friends she made doing both. She lived her life with unconditional love and generosity for her friends and family.
Gretchen was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Chester Nelson; mother, Wilimine (Silloway) Nelson; sister, Betty (Nelson) Lee; sons, Fredrick Raymond Wagner and William Brian Wagner; daughter, Laurel Jean Wagner; daughter-in-law, Jenelle Wagner; grandchildren, Kelly and Calvin Hershberger; and great-granddaughter, Izzy Ortiz.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Upgren of Oklahoma; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and James Paladino; daughter-in-law, Patricia Wagner; grandchildren, Holly Wagner, Laurynne Paladino, Christopher Paladino, Morgan Ortiz (Antonio), Tiffany Wagner, Brian Wagner (Kaitlynn); and 12 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Angelica, Evan, Carson, Laekyn, Emrik, Ziggy, Hailey (Jose) Delaney, Kylee, Riley and Kasey.
Services will be held at Trader Funeral Home on March 10, 2023. Friends may call at 11 a.m., with memorial service at 12 noon followed by internment at Sharon Hills cemetery.
