Grace L. Scott, 82

SWEDESBORO, N.J. - Grace L. Scott had a tender heart for those in need and was a powerful listener.

She served as head deaconess at Parkside Seventh-day Adventist Church for many years and could be counted on to bring a bountiful supply of food to potluck dinners. Her specialty was apple dumplings and pie.

Grace was the "unknown" church cleaner.

As a counselor at Elwyn Institute, Grace prepared arts and crafts projects for patients to enjoy.

Not much for retirement and unable to sit still, she made lap blankets for disabled veterans.

She passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at her home.

Grace was the wife of the late Charles Jr.

She is survived by her sons, Charles III (Rose) of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Craig of Swedesboro, with whom she lived; a sister, Esther Long; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, David Lee, and a grandson named for him; and by two sisters, Evelyn Matter and Jean Miller.

Celebrations for Grace"s 82 congenial years will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Daley Life Celebration Studio, 1518 Kings Highway, Swedesboro, where services will be at 5 p.m.

A graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Cornwall (Pa.) Cemetery.
