Gloria M. Steinert, 82
DOVER - Gloria M. Steinert, of Dover, died Tuesday September 29, 2009 in Silver Lake Nursing Home. She was 82. Mrs. Steinert was born July 29, 1927, in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Edward Schneider and May Zehradnick Schneider. Mrs. Steinert grew up in Delaware and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1945, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City with a degree in Millinery Design in 1947. She started her career at John's Millinery in Manhattan. Mrs. Steinert married her husband George in 1954. They settled in Nyack, New York where they lived for 20 years, during which time she was a devoted wife and mother and found enjoyment as a medical librarian at Nyack Hospital. The Steinert family moved back to Delaware in 1988. Mrs. Steinert enjoyed big band and swing music, dancing, reading, dogs, and visiting New York City. She dearly loved her family and friends, and was concerned for them to the end of her life. Her smile could lighten a room and she made sure you lacked for nothing. Her heart was as large as the oceans with room to spare. She will be painfully missed. Mrs. Steinert was preceded in death by her husband, George Steinert in May 2009. She is survived by her sons, George E. Steinert and his wife Valeri of Chester, N.Y., and Geoffrey Steinert of Dover; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Melissa Steinert, both of Chester, N.Y. Memorial services will be 5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, 25 Columbia Heights, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2483 in Mrs. Steinert's memory.
