Gertrude E. McAfee

Gertrude E. McAfee, 88

DOVER - Gertrude E. McAfee of Dover passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at Capital Nursing Center, Dover. She was 88.

She was born April 12, 1919, in Dover, to the late William and Evelyn Jackson McAfee.

Ms. McAfee was a clerk for Playtex for 39 years.

She was a 1940 graduate of Dover High School.

Ms. McAfee was a avid bowler and served on the Delaware Women's Bowling Association as a director, and served the Lower Delaware WBA as a director, sergeant of arms.

She was a member of the Delaware Women's Hall of Fame and the Lower Delaware Women's BA Hall of Fame.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Bernice "Bernie" McAfee, in 2005; and her brother, Robert, and sister-in-law, Viola McAfee.

She is survived by her caregiver, Phyllis Tarburton of Dover.

Remembrance services will be noon Tuesday at Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior.

Burial will be at the Lake Side Cemetery, Dover.

The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Delaware State Bowling Hall of Fame, Wilmington.
