George Wayne Zitzman, 62

MILFORD - George Wayne Zitzman of Milford died suddenly Saturday, June 23, 2007, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 62.

Mr. Zitzman was born Nov. 12, 1944, in Pittsburgh, son of the late George A. and Lillian (Shepherd) Zitzman.

He was employed as a middle school teacher with the Milford School District for 33 years, retiring in 2004.

Mr. Zitzman devoted many after school hours as a coach for the middle school wrestling and soccer teams.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, especially fly fishing, Frisbee golf, tennis, camping and was a devoted Steelers fan.

Mr. Zitzman also loved harness racing, owning a couple of horses of his own.

He was a member of the Milford Lions Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Milford.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Zitzman was preceded in death by a brother, George S. Zitzman.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Margaret A. Zitzman; a daughter, Peggy Lillian Zitzman of Milford; a sister, Jean Fraer of Pittsburgh; his mother-in-law, Marge Davenport of Milford; a sister-in-law, Dee Lowrey and her husband Keith of Gilbert, Ariz.; six nieces and nephews and their respective spouses, Fred and Luanne Fraer, Joyce and Tom Rossi, Janet Fraer, Sheri Lowrey, Kevin Lowrey and Laura Garza; and five great-nieces and great-nephews and their respective spouses, Hannah and Rob Buttenmore, Albert Rossi, Tyler Fraer, Ian Fraer and Kailey Fraer.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the George W. Zitzman Scholarship Fund, c/o Milford School District, 906 Lakeview Ave., Milford, DE 19963.
