
George T. Burd, III, 55
DOVER - George T. Burd, III passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2021.
George was born in Dover, Delaware to Shirley Gourley Burd and the late George Burd, Jr.
He was a graduate of CRHS in 1985 earning a certificate in Diesel Mechanics.
George received Christ at a young age. He loved and believed in God.
At an early age you could always find George with his dad in the shop learning. He loved working with his hands. As he got older he started working with his dad in the asphalt paving business until the business was sold after 50 years.
He worked for several paving companies and loved every minute of it. He took great pride in his work.
George loved going to Myrtle Beach, Trapp Pond and Frontier Town camping. He enjoyed going to NY City at Christmas and playing pool. He liked taking his beloved dog Jackson for rides in his truck roaming the countryside enjoying the sweet fresh air. George enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle to different bike weeks with many friends, he was good hearted and helped you in need never expecting anything in return.
He was a member of the Historical Vintage Car Club of Delaware, Inc. and showed his 1928 Chevrolet Imperial Landau. He was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley; brother, Douglas M. Burd and wife Valerie; nephew, Kaleb Burd and his wife Jessica; niece, Kasie Burd; special friend, Autumn Gourley who called him "Mr. Fluffy"; his aunt, Margaret Clough; his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Melinda Burd; his current ex-wife and special friend, Jo-Allynn Loden; and many other friends and family.
A viewing will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Services will be at 2 p.m. Interment will be held at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
