George Steinert, 85

DOVER - George Steinert, of Dover, died Sunday, May 3, 2009, in his home. He was 85. Mr. Steinert was born June 8, 1923, in Bronx, N.Y., to the late George Patrick Steinert and Caroline Hanard Steinert. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army Air Corp. Mr. Steinert was a partner for 30 years for Perless Equipment Corporation, manufacturing commercial refrigeration in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. He enjoyed watching NASCAR especially when Davey Allison was racing. His true enjoyment was all the years he and his wife would go out and dance. Mr. Steinert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Schneider Steinert of Dover; two sons, George Edward Steinert and his wife Valerie of Chester, N.Y., and Geoffrey William Steinert of Dover; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Melissa Steinert, both of Chester, N.Y. Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday May 6, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Mr. Steinert's name.
