George Oscar 'Sonny' Sorden, 66
HARRINGTON - George Oscar "Sonny" Sorden, formerly of Harrington, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, in the Delaware Home for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. He was 66.
Mr. Sorden was born May 26, 1940, in Baltimore, son of the late George Muir and Sara E. Sorden.
He attended Baltimore public schools.
Mr. Sorden was a jack of all trades by nature and held a variety of jobs from working in a fish market to painting spars on ships to various positions in construction work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald "Chuckie" Wells.
He is survived by three daughters and a brother-in-law, Adriene and Mical Bowling of Columbia, S.C., Clarissa Watson of Harrington and Narrah Bethel of Lincoln; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Melvin and Linda Smith of Harrington, Anthony and Anne Thorpe of Tokyo and Kevin Faulkner of Baltimore; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Carole and John Baynard of Harrington, Mirinda Jackson of Accokeek, Md., Deborah Sorden of Mt. Laurel, N.J., and Sarah Sorden of Newark; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lehr and Linda Sorden of Jessup, Md., and Lawrence and Cheryl Sorden of Chester, Va.; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where friends may call two hours earlier.
