HOUSTON, Del. - George L. Legates, Jr. passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. George was born in Milford, Del. the son of the late George L. Legates, Sr. and Eunice (Morgan) Hughes. He was working at Burris Logistics as a receiver for 37 years at the time of his death. He loved deer hunting, sports and enjoyed coaching Milford Little League, Milford Pop Warner Football and the semi pro football team Delaware Fire.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Tony Legates, Paul Legates and Donnie Legates.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Thelma Legates; two sons, George L. Legates III and his wife Osiris and Roy W. Legates; one brother, David Legates and his wife Rhonda; two half sisters, Cindy Goldsborough and her husband Norm and Teresa Legates; one half brother, Brian Legates; seven grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Funeral services will be private. Due to COVID-19 protocols, masks must be worn and social distancing must be observed by all participating in any aspect of the viewing. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
