WILMINGTON - George A. Morrone, age 84, of Brooklyn, N.Y., passed away November 18, 2014 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Wilmington. George was born in 1930 in Clearwater, Fla. He was married to Margaret for 67 years. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with 21.5 years of service with the US Navy and a retired teacher with 20 years at Sussex County Vo-Tech Center in Georgetown. He touched many young minds, encouraging even the most challenging students. George was preceded in death by his parents, Francis William and Harriet Elizabeth Morrone; his wife, Margaret P. (Creguer) Morrone; his daughter, Peggy Lynn (1964); and brothers, Frank and Gary. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki and her partner, Sieglinde and their two daughters, Laly and Tori (Williamston, MI); his son, Anthony and his wife, Colleen and their three children, Katherine, Joseph and Brynn (Garnet Valley, PA); and his sister, Mary Yassine of Miami Beech, Fla. His children and their families will miss his sense of humor and love of good Italian food and red vino. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 p.m., Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 4701 Weldin Road, Wilmington. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A committal service will be held following the Mass at 2 p.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
