DENTON, Md. - George A. Layton, Sr. of Denton, Md., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018 at the Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville, Md.
Born in Denton, Mr. Layton was the son of the late William Thomas Layton and Lily Mae Jenkins Layton. He grew up in Denton and worked at many different occupations. He retired as a House Painter. Known for his sense of humor, Mr. Layton enjoyed rabbit hunting, shuffleboard, horseshoes, and NASCAR.
Mr. Layton is survived by his wife, H. Pauline (Polly) Layton of Denton; three sons, G. Allen Layton, Jr. (Debbie) of Denton, Jerry Lee Layton (Barbara) of Marydel, Md. and Jeffery Layton (Tammy Willis) of Denton; eight grandchildren, Brian, Jonathan, Lee, Josh, Jodi, Melissa, Brandy Givens, and Alex Willis; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018 at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. before the service. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery.
