MILTON - Gayle E. Hudson of Milton, formerly of Fluvanna County, Va., died Saturday, March 31, 2007, in her home. She was 69.
Gayle was born in Richmond, Va., daughter of the late George Reton and Anna Beatrice (Whitehead) Edgerton.
She was an administrative assistant to the dean at Fork Union Military Academy for 22 years, retiring in 1988.
While living in Fluvanna County, Gayle enjoyed singing in the Fork Union Baptist Church Choir. She served as president of the Fluvanna Arts Council and was active in the Fluvanna County Historical Society. She took a personal interest in the life of the cadets and helped lead the Quadrille Club at Fort Union Military Academy.
In Delaware, she was active in Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes. She served as chairman of the 36th District of the Delaware Republican Party and was a member of the Sussex County Republican Women's Club.
Gayle enjoyed playing tennis and was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles.
She is survived by her husband, Aubrey Hudson; two children, Walter S. Howard III and his wife Melissa of Chesapeake, Va., and Sandra L. Howard of Mineral, Va.; two stepchildren, Mark W. Hudson and his wife Melanie of Georgetown, and Deborah Donaway and her husband Greg of Georgetown; five grandchildren, Chip Howard of Virginia Beach, Va., Katie Howard of Chesapeake, Michael Britts of Tennessee, Laura Britts of Mineral, and Stephen Britts of Florida; and four step-grandchildren, Samantha Hudson, Nick Hudson, Erica Donaway and Adrianne Donaway, all of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth St., Lewes, where friends may call after noon.
Interment will be in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Lewes.
