Gary L. Higginbotham Sr., 61

DOVER - Gary L. Higginbotham Sr., of Dover, died suddenly Sunday, May 4, 2008, surrounded by his family. He was 61.

He was born Dec. 16, 1946, in Joplin, Mo., to the late Edward L. and Helen Mae (Morris) Higginbotham.

Gary retired from Dow Reichhold Chemical Co. in February, after 38 years of devoted service. He won awards for safety and attendance.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and enjoyed spending quality time with his family.

Gary always would take time to help others in need.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Gary expecially enjoyed doing yard work and odd jobs with his grandson Justin.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Higginbotham.

He is survived by his wife, Julia A. (Barr) Higginbotham of Dover; a son, Gary L. Higginbotham Jr. and his wife Michelle of Idaho; a daughter, Robin and her husband Enoch Durham of Dover; a brother, Jack and his wife Leasa Higginbotham of Missouri; sister, Rose Noaker of Kent, Ohio; five grandchildren, Justin and his wife Amy Banks of Camden, Eric Banks of Camden, and Nigel Higginbotham, Derek Higginbotham, and Ian Higginbotham, all of Idaho; step-grandson, Jason Durham of Clayton; two great-grandchildren, Skye and Haley Banks; and several other family members.

Friends may call at 1 p.m. today in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St,, Dover. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
