Gary G. Kavanagh, 68

CAMDEN - Gary G. Kavanagh of Camden-Wyoming died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007, at home. He was 68.

He was born on Oct. 13, 1938, son of the late John and Cecelia Kavanagh.

Mr. Kavanagh was a graduate of Villanova University and celebrated madly when the Wildcats basketball team won the NCAA championship in 1985.

He was the manager of Dover Hardware for several years and loyal customers will remember his Christmas cookie celebrations.

Mr. Kavanagh worked at Hechinger"s as a kitchen designer until illness forced his retirement in 1996.

He was a wonderful and kind man and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Kavanagh loved wearing his colorful patch work pants and dressing up for Halloween.

He loved celebrating the holidays, especially Christmas and he designed, cut and painted scenes to display with Christmas lights and was the winner of the White Oak Farms best decorated home award two years in a row before withdrawing from the contest.

Mr. Kavanagh is survived by his wife, Dana (Watford); his son, Brian and his wife, Kim of Eagleville, Pa.; his daughter Kelly of Plymouth Meeting, Pa.; a brother, John Kavanagh and his wife, Derreth of Cary, N.C.; a stepson, Sean Conner and his wife, Amber and their daughter, Joilyn of Seaford; his father-in-law, Stroman Watford Sr. of Milford; a brother-in-law, Stroman Watford Jr. and his wife, Bonnie of Milford; a sister-in-law, Mary Vannoy and her husband, Robert of Dover; a sister-in-law, Theresa Furber and her husband, Frederick of Camden; and his beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Braden Kavanagh of Eaglesville and Logan Conner of Dover; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held from 3-5 p.m. Friday in the Frederica Senior Center, Frederica, where friends may call.

Arrangements are by Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
