Friend Jackson 'Frank' Ramsey, 79

ALBERTSON PARK - Friend Jackson "Frank" Ramsey of Albertson Park left this life peacefully on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008. He was 79.

Frank was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Huntington, Pa., son of the late Friend and Cathryn Ramsey.

He married his loving wife of 49 years, the late Mary L. Doolittle, on Valentine's Day 1946.

Frank proudly served his country in the Army during World War II until being discharged in 1947.

Over the years, he owned County Drywall and Insulation by Ramsey and was a foreman for the Wilmington Housing Authority.

Frank and his wife's love of antiques led the couple to open Bellefonte Resale Shoppe in 1974. They enjoyed the friendships of loyal customers for 20 years until retiring in 1994.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Edward; stepsisters, Ethel and Jean; and his stepbrother, Wally.

He is survived by his son, George F. Ramsey and his fiancee Carol of Wilmington; his daughter, Debra D. Schwartz of Felton; three grandchildren, Patricia Shaver and her husband Brian, Jennifer Ramsey and Jamie Ramsey and his wife Kim; and eight great-grandchildren.

Close family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Nichols-Gilmore Funeral Home, 212 E. Justis St., Newport, where visitation will begin at 9 a.m.

Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery on Lancaster Avenue.

The family suggests contributions in Frank's memory to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
