Frieda Marie Schmick Fuchs

Frieda Marie Schmick Fuchs died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at her home in Denton, Md. She was 94 years old. She married John August Fuchs on Feb. 6, 1935. Frieda and John moved to New Hopes Farm, Denton, on Jan. 1, 1937, where he was a dairy and grain farmer for the remainder of his life. He died August 25, 1994. At an early age, she joined the 4-H Club and was inducted into the Maryland 4-H All Stars in 1934, and became a life member. In 2000, she was inducted into the Lodge of a Thousand and given the name "Meyotoa" meaning true-hearted following a true line. As a member of the Women's Committee of Farm Bureau, she served as county chairman from 1968 – 1973. In 1980, while serving as a District Director, she was a voting delegate to the Triennial Conference of the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) in Hamburg, Germany. She also attended world meetings of ACWW in East Lansing, Michigan and Vancouver, Canada. Mrs. Fuchs is survived by her twelve children, Barbara Wright (Francis, deceased) of Seaford, Lois Clark (James, deceased), Naomi Buckalew (Rupert, deceased), Henry Fuchs (Rose Marie), Joanne Smith (Hugh), Rebecca Loukides (Nicholas), Phillip Fuchs, all of Denton, Ernest Fuchs (Adele) of Easton, Md, Louis Fuchs (Joan) of Harrington, DE; Ellen Mulder (Steve) of Cordova, Md, Mark Fuchs (Lynn) of Ridgely, Md, and Gary Fuchs (Cathie) of Austin, Texax; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; six step-grandchildren; 10 nieces; and 11 nephews; also left to mourn is, Kathryn Wood, her special helper and caregiver for the last five years; Frieda is also survived by three siblings, Margaret Taylor of West Palm Beach, Fla, Lawrence Schmick of Denton, Md, and Glen Schmick of Preston, Md. She is preceded in death by five siblings, Ruth Ellis, Ellen Baker, Bertha Anne Fink, Martina Bennett, and Sherman J. Schmick; two grandsons, Brian Fuchs and Burton Fuchs; and a great grandson Chad Clark. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston. Friends may call from 6 until 8 on Tuesday evening at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 South Second Street in Denton. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery.
