MILTON - Frederick A. Chappell Sr. of Milton passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007, in Ashland Convalescent Center in Ashland, Va., his residence for the past two years. He was 92.
Mr. Chappell was born in Wildwood, N.J., son of the late Frederick G. and Clara Pepper Chappell.
He was a farmer for most of his life and retired in 1994.
Mr. Chappell was a member of Coolspring Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Chappell was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Martin Chappell in 2000; a brother, George F. Chappell; a sister, Ada C. Wilson; and a great-grandson, Kelvin Swearengin.
He is survived by his son, Fred A. Chappell Jr. and wife June of Ashland, Va.; two grandchildren, Kim C. Lawrence and husband John and Fred A. Chappell III; and two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth Swearengin and Emily Lawrence.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after noon.
Burial will be in Coolspring Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
