DOVER - Fred A. Holmes, of Dover, formerly of New York City, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. Mr. Holmes was born Mar. 28, 1937 in Harlem, N.Y. He retired from NYU Medical Center in New York, N.Y. after many years of work as a Laboratory Technician. Fred enjoyed watching basketball and Westerns on TV. Other interests included dining out as much as possible. He is survived by his wife, Betty Gonzalez of Dover; two sons, of New York City; a daughter, also of New York City, a daughter of Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother; and four sisters. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 12 noon in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE, where friends are welcome to attend at 10:30 am. Burial will be privately held at a later date. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com.
