SMYRNA - Jude went home to the Lord peacefully in his sleep on April 10, 2016, following a long illness at Pinnacle Nursing Home, surrounded by family and friends. Jude was born Feb. 3, 1933 in Seaford. He served four years in the US Airforce as an airplane mechanic. After his service, he made his living as a truck driver. As an avid Baltimore Orioles fan for many years, Jude enjoyed watching the baseball games and professional wrestling with his wife. He also enjoyed NASCAR Racing, especially his favorite driver Jimmie Johnson. His greatest joy was doing work around the yard and teaching his dog, Buddy, to drive his tractor. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Leona; and their six children, William (Tony), Teresa, Franklin Jr. (Frankie), Gary, Mark (Butch), and Wanda; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Pete Street, of New York and many family members in lower Delaware. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Jackson; his brother, Albert Sammons; and his dog "Buddy". Friends and family may call on Saturday, April 16, 2016, between 12 noon and 1 p.m. at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, located at 717 W. Division St. Dover, DE., 19904. Services will be held immediately following.
