DOVER - Francis Landry Sr., of Dover, was surrounded by his children, when he was called home by the Lord on April 10, 2009. He was 74. Francis was born in Lafayette, La., on April 16, 1934, to the union of the late Albert Sr. and Mary (Charles) Landry. Francis was a parishioner of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church for over 52 years, and loved to volunteer his time as an usher. Francis married Alice (Rider) Landry on April 16, 1953, in Smyrna, and to this union they were blessed with eight children. Francis was retired from W.L. Wheatley (Campbell Soup) for 26 years as a Chief Refrigeration Mechanic. During his precious life, he was a gift from God as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Francis found great joy coaching Pop Warner football and watching his children pay sports. He loved playing golf, fishing and most of spending time with his wife and family. Francis was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Alice Landry; son, Bruce Michael Landry; his two brothers, Albert Landry Jr. and Isaac Landry; and his sister, Anna Lee (Landry) Arceneaux. He leaves to cherish fond memories his daughter, Shirley Broomfield (Albert) of Palm Bay, Fla.; son, Francis Landry Jr. (Kyungae), of Springfield, Va.; son, Donald Landry (Melvina); daughter, Mary Landry (James); sons, James Landry Sr. (Alisha), Gerald Landry (Denell), and Gerard Landry. all of Dover; one sister-in-law, Mildred (Rider) Johnson of Wilmington; and one brother-in-law, Walter J. Rider of Severn, Md.; his grandchildren, Keith Landry, Sonya Brown, Bruce Brown, Jon Landry, Gregory Landry, Mariah Landry, James Landry Jr., Alexis Landry, Jeremie Brown, Alisha Stevens, and Lauren Wayman; great-grandchildren, Jerell Brown, JhaShawn Landry, Jamiah Bown, Jhazmond Landry, Zyona Landry Whitted –NTI, Anadina Landry-Hutchens, Jayvion Landry, Amiyah Landry, Ayanna Landry and Keloni' Landry; a special friend of the family, William Newman and a host of beloved nieces, nephews; and a host of beloved friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Friday at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 631 South State, Dover, where the viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment services will be held at Sharon Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send your donation to Holy Cross Church or Catholic Charities Inc. Diocese of Wilmington, DE 19805-3309.
