Frances L. Dean

GREENSBORO, Md. - Frances L. Dean, 86, of Greensboro, died on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at her home. She was born on Dec. 8, 1924, in Ridgely to the late DeCoursey and Frances Higdon Gernert. Mrs. Dean was a clerk and carrier for the US Postal Service retiring in 1986 after 13 years of service. She spent 5 years in Chester, Pa., during WWII working at the Sun Ship yards. Prior to the postal service she worked for the former Ober's Florist shop. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Temple Dean. She is survived by her son, William "Willie" J. Dean, Sr. and wife Brenda of Greensboro; two sisters, Joyce States of Greensboro, and Violet Allen of Ridgely; one brother, Joseph Frank of Baltimore; three grandchildren, William J. Dean Jr., Barbara Wharton, and Melissa Dean; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, at 2 p.m., from the Greensboro Cemetery.
