Frances 'Fannie' Elizabeth Minner, 61

DOVER - Frances "Fannie" Elizabeth Minner, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday Jan. 7, 2009. She was 61. Fannie was born in Dover to the late Robert James and Ethel Sammons Carney. Fannie worked at Playtex/Sara Lee for 32 years and retired in 2000. She was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape Indians of Bridgeton, N.J. Fannie was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She enjoyed eating crabs every weekend in the summer, going for rides to Woodland Beach and Rock Hall with her best friend and husband Glenn, and playing with all her cats. She looked forward to cooking and spending time with her son "Tootie" every Sunday. She enjoyed collecting Barbie's, Princess Diana and Cats memorabilia. Christmas time was a special time for her, she loved to give presents. She would buy all year through and around Thanksgiving time would start asking all of us if we wanted a present, because she just could not wait. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Lincoln and Donald Carney; a loving sister that passed away on the same day Jan. 7, 2001, Loretta Carney Draine; two nephews, Hoss and Matty Wade Sammons; and a niece Barbara Hicks. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 26 years, Howard Glenn Minner; her son and his wife, Orville "Tootie" and Cheryl Carney of Magnolia; her loving cats, Boots, Hank and Sassy; two special nieces and their husbands, Jackie and Scooter Morris of Swansboro, N.C., and Jamie and Eddie Renshaw of Edenton, N.C.; five sisters, Agnes Durham of Greenwich, N.J., Harriet (Sissy) Street of Georgetown, Emma and William Seeney, Janet and Rick Scotton all of Dover and Leona Mae and Vincent Alvino of Seaford; five brothers, Melvin (Brownie) and Barbara McDonald Carney of Fort Worth, Texas, Isaac (Ike) and Evelyn Mosley Carney, Larry (Perry) and Lois Morris Carney, Ronald (Sam) and Carolyn Mosley Carney, Roland (Hicky) Carney all of Dover; a brother-in-law and his wife, Wayne and Janet Minner of Frederica; two very special friends, Frankie and Wanda Shahan of Felton; and many other nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations in her memory be made to the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle Camden, DE 19934. Letters of condolences may be sent, and guestbook may be signed at www.torbertfuneral.com. Local arrangements by Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover.
