CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Florence Virginia Gale Tubbs of Chestertown died Friday, June 1, 2007, in the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore. She was 90.
Mrs. Tubbs was born in Galena, daughter of the late William Leo and Mamie Skinner Gale.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Tubbs was admired for her uplifting personality and her very generous spirit.
She loved to read, enjoyed playing the piano, and truly loved a piece of chocolate.
For many years, Mrs. Tubbs sang in the choir at Asbury United Methodist Church, Millington, where she was a member.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Joseph J. Tubbs, USN, in 1985; a daughter, Joann Large; and a sister Arlene McClain.
She is survived by a daughter, Dorothy "Dottie" Arlene Curry of Bothell, Wash.; a son, Jerry Tubbs of Collierville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial services will be 2 p.m. July 6 in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Asbury United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 187, Millington, MD 21651, Att. Trustees.
