WYOMING - Florence S. Greene, of Wyoming, departed this life Tuesday, March 15, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Germany to Theodore and Elizabeth Sowada. She came with her family to the United States after WWII to start a new life. She attended Greensboro High School and was a 1979 graduate of Delaware State College with BS in Agriculture. Hired before graduation by Asgrow Seed Co., she moved to Massachusetts and began a career in sales, exceeding goals and winning honors and awards for her efforts. In 1989 she moved back to Delaware and went to work for Fifer Orchards as their retail manager. Later she went to work under Tom Weyant at Kent County Dept of Aging and then at Kent County Public Library. Retiring in January 2008, she worked part time at RC&D and volunteered at Wesley Methodist Clothing Closet. Florence loved to work in her flower gardens and spend time with her family and grandchildren. She shared a love of music with the choir of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marydel, Md., where she was a parishioner since childhood. Through her love of reading, she became a bountiful source of knowledge. If you wanted to know something you could simply ask Flo. Florence touched the hearts of both young and old, making many friends along the way. Her cheerful smile and thoughtful ways will be greatly missed. Florence was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Goulet; and a son, Jeffrey Goulet. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Richard Greene Sr.; sons, David Goulet and wife Alice, Stephen Goulet and wife Leigh Anne, Michael Goulet and fiance Tammy, Richard Greene Jr.; and daughter, Cindy DiGennaro; grandchildren, Joshua, Joseph, Stephanie, Nikki, Marcy, Autumne, Danielle, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Bret, Samantha, Alyssa, Zachary, and Grayson; sisters, Elfrieda and husband Neal Parker of New York and Trudy and husband Richard Austin of Florida; many nephews, nieces and friends, especially Edith Wilson. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, March 21, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Marydel, Md. Burial will be private at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o Immaculate Conception Church, P.O. Box 399, Marydel, MD 21649.
