Florence Halpern

ROCKVILLE, Md. - Florence Halpern of Rockville, Md., formerly of Dover died Thursday in Rockville, Md.
She was born in Barnesboro, daughter of the late Sam and Ida (Brenner) Sanders. On June 20, 1943, she married Harold Halpern in Philadelphia, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2008.
Surviving are a daughter, Marlene (Lee) Goldschmidt of Potomac, Md.; a son, Joel (Dianne) Halpern of Dover; five grandchildren, Sarah Rosenzweig, Jill (Jeremy) Brodie, Emily Halpern, Jeff (Bethany) Halpern and Ryan (Stephany) Halpern; and seven great-grandchildren, Tori, Megan, Kaitlyn and Heather Brodie and Kyle, Colin and Kensington Halpern.
Florence graduated from Ohio State University. She managed the accounting and business side of her husband's optometric practice.
She enjoyed her family, as well as investing, antiques, volunteering at various organizations and of course her extended family.
A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017, at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home Inc., 2309 Broad Ave., Altoona, Rabbi Josh Wohl officiated. Interment was at Agudath Achim Cemetery, Altoona.
