DOVER - Florence Gomory, of Dover, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, in her home. She was 72. Mrs. Gomory was born Jan. 19, 1938, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late Michael J. and Florence King Connelly. She was a registered nurse and worked for the Paul Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, N.J., for ten years as a charge nurse in their emergency room. While working for the hospital, she was also part of the Port Monmouth, N.J., first aid station where she had taught advanced first aid and CPR and had also delivered two babies. She then was employed as a nurse for the Lifecare Center in Lofland Park, in Seaford for over ten years. She was a member of Helping Hands Quilting Guild making quilts for babies, premature babies, and others in need. She taught sewing and quilting at the Delaware Sewing Center in Dover, was an award winning quilter at the Delaware State Fair and was a quilting judge. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Paul P. Gomory; three sons, Kevin Rehbein of Florida, Dennis Rehbein of Brick, N.J., and Darren Rehbein of Keyport, N.J; two daughters, Jeannine Connelly-Morse and her husband Tom Morse of Brick, N.J., and Wendy Heuser and her husband Scott of Joliet, Ill.; a brother, Michael J. Connelly and his wife Catherine of Dover, and a sister-in-law, Anne Connelly of Englishtown, N.J. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Sean, Katie, Alyssa, Chris and Megan and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Eoin. A memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior.
