Pratt, Jr. DOVER - Fletcher "Wright" Pratt, Jr., of Dover, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at the age of 79. Wright was born on Mar. 24, 1935, in Millington, Md., and was the son of the late Wright Sr. and Ella Pratt. Wright proudly served his country in the United States Army European Theater and ended his working career after reaching the rank of Staff Lieutenant, retiring from the Delaware Department of Corrections in 1989. He had a lifelong love of horses and harness racing, both as a trainer and an owner, and he was an enthusiastic member of the Eastern Shore Western Horse Show Association. An avid reader, Wright spent much of his free time reading, especially Western novels and history books. During their 53 years of marriage, Wright and his wife, Joanie, enjoyed their times on the dance floor "Jitterbugging" and "Dipping." He also loved playing cards and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his wife, Wright is survived by his daughter, Denise Thorn, and her husband Joe, of Smyrna, Del.; his son, Robert Pratt, and his wife Barb, of Virginia Beach, Va.; his daughter, Sharon Miller, of Crumpton, Md.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his siblings, Jean Edwards, Jackie Pratt (Dottie), and Garvey Pratt, all of Millington, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Seasons Hospice, especially Stacy Meek and Carla Coffee, whose smiling faces and warm hearts will always be remembered. The services will be held privately by the family. Contributions in Wright's memory may be sent to Seasons Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE, 19713. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfunerahome.com.
