ROCK HALL, Md. - Evelyn Louise Jones, of Rock Hall, died on Dec. 31, 2011, at Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown, Md. She was 84. She was born in Kent County Maryland on Aug. 6, 1927, the daughter of the late John Montague and Frances Copper Pardee and sister to the late Walter Pardee. Following graduation from High School she attended Goldey Beacom Business School. In 1945, she married Enoch Everngam, they lived in Centreville and Chestertown where she raised her family. In 1953, she remarried to Elmer Octavis Jones, Jr. Mrs. Jones worked as a teacher's aide with the Kent County Public School System for 25 years from which she retired. She enjoyed crabbing, ceramics, bowling, dancing, and music, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Rock Hall, Md., and in her younger days was a Girl Scout Leader. She was loved by her friends and family. Mrs. Jones is survived by her children, Connie Lee Brinkley of Rock Hall, Md., Beckie Jensen of Sudlersville, Md., and Donald Jones and his wife Laura of Pasadena, Md., along with Roselma Jones Jayne whom she raised and her husband Ron of Rock Hall, Md. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be noon, Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at St. John's Catholic Church in Rock Hall. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, between the hours of 10 and 11:30 a.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home Route #20 Rock Hall. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Rock Hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Kent County, P.O. Box 352, Chestertown, MD 21620.
