GEORGETOWN - Evelon Von Goerres, a lifetime resident of Georgetown, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, in her home. She was 83.
Evelon was born in Georgetown, daughter of the late Edward B. and Florence W. (Jones) Rust.
She was a homemaker, caregiver and also assisted her husband with his duties with the Georgetown American Legion Ambulance.
Evelon was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert G. Von Goerres; and a brother, James E. Rust.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Herbert E. and Marcy Von Goerres of Lewes; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Le Gates and her husband Russell of Harrington; four nieces, Denese Bell and her husband Rick of Georgetown, Corinnia McAllister and her husband Brian of Seaford, Beverly Von Goerres of Bear, and Beth Hudson of Harrington; and three nephews, Bruce Von Goerres of Felton, David Le Gates of Middletown, and James Rust of Ocean City, Md.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Sussex Post 8, Georgetown American Legion Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 202, Georgetown, DE 19947; or Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
