Eva Elizabeth (Nailor) Scotton, 92

DOVER - Eva Elizabeth (Nailor) Scotton of Dover died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 92.

Mrs. Scotton was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Milford, daughter of the late John Alfred and Elizabeth (Simpson) Nailor.

She retired as secretary of East Dover Elementary School in 1981. She was also secretary to the late William Hughes at Wesley College.

Mrs. Scotton was the first president of the Kent County Republican Women"s Club from 1952-57 and continued to be active until her death. She was also the first president of the Milford Business and Professional Women"s Club. She was a member of the Dover Lions Club since 1979, as well as the Delaware Nature Society, Capital Grange and the Delaware Agricultural Museum & Village, and a past member of the General Federation of Women"s Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Paul Scotton, in 1998.

She is survived by two sons, William Scotton of Dover and Lewis N. Scotton of Hingham, Mass.; four grandchildren, Tara Volpe of Wilmington, Alison Pearson of Dover, Stephanie League of Cincinnati and William Paul Scotton II of Indianapolis; a sister, Marian (Nailor) Dickerson of Milford; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Del. 10, Dover.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Woodside Methodist Church, 1407 Main St., Woodside, DE 19980.
