HARBESON - Eugene E. Melvin, of Harbeson, formerly of Seaford, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011, at Harbor Healthcare Center in Lewes. He was 90. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Adda (Chaffinch) Melvin; his first wife, Irene Melvin; and his fiancé, Candy Hudson. He worked in the Maintenance Department at Dupont in Seaford, retiring in 1978. Eugene enjoyed duck carving, farming and traveling to Florida, where he collected shells. He was a member of Harbeson U.M. Church. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1942 - 1945. He is survived by a small extended family in the Fruitland area. A funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, April 1, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be in Harbeson Cemetery, Harbeson.
