MILFORD - Ethel J. Rapp of Milford, formerly of Harrington, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 90.
Mrs. Rapp was born March 27, 1916, near Ingleside, Md., daughter of the late Harry L. and Flora (Van Sant) Johnson.
She had been a resident of Harrington for 48 years before moving to Milford in 1985.
Mrs. Rapp was a homemaker.
She was a longtime active member and Sunday school teacher at Asbury United Methodist Church, Harrington, also participating in the United Methodist Women and the Pathfinders class; and a member of both the Harrington and Milford New Century clubs; both the Harrington and Milford senior centers; the CKRT American Legion Post 7 Ladies Auxiliary, Harrington; the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pennsylvania Railroad, Rehoboth Beach; a charter member of the Merrymaker's Home Demonstration Club; and a volunteer at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Rapp enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were a great pleasure for her and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Frederick Rapp, in 1979; two sisters, Ruby Cross and Edrie Gorman; and three brothers, Andrew Johnson, H. John Johnson and her twin brother Frank M. Johnson.
She is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Charlotte R. and David A. Greenly Jr., with whom she lived; a son and a daughter-in-law, C. Ronald and Joanne Q. Rapp of Houston; four grandchildren, Jeffrey David Greenly of Milford, Andy Rapp of Houston, Candice Stubbs of Bridgeville and Dawn Moore of Magnolia; and seven great-grandchildren, Bryce Greenly, Kristen Greenly, Hunter Roop, Parker Moore, Alan Lane, Jordan Lane and Lillie Stubbs.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Ave., Harrington, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford-Harrington Highway, Harrington.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Asbury United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 200 Weiner Ave., Harrington, DE 19952; or Veterans Employee Association of Delaware Division Pennsylvania Railroad, c/o Ruth J. Matthews, 116 Broad Creek Road, Laurel, DE 19956.
