Esther McLendon Johnson, 68

HARBESON - Esther McLendon Johnson of Harbeson passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at her home. She was 68.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Washington, the daughter of the late Cecil H. and Adilia (Rau) McLendon.

She worked as a secretary for many years for the H. D. Johnson Co., Inc.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Ladies Lions Club in Washington, and member of the wives club of the Washington Master Plumbers.

She enjoyed gardening, needle point, crocheting, playing the piano and dancing.

Mrs. Johnson"s greatest joy in life was being a mother.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Harold David Johnson Jr.; six children, Harold David Johnson III and his wife, Elizabeth of Poolsville, Md., Daniel Wayne Johnson of Ashburn, Va., Dale Susan Hadden and her husband, George of La Plata, Md., Derrick Edward Johnson and his wife, Tracy of Grandville, Mich., Dean Phillip Johnson and his wife, Jean of Georgetown, Deanna Elizabeth Talbert and her husband, David of Ocala, Fla.; one sister, Martha Ann Forcey and her husband, Hershal of Huntsville, Ontario, Canada; one brother, Cecil Paul McLendon and his wife, Annette of Rockville, Md.; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 9 a.m.

Interment will be in Harbeson Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
