CAMDEN - Esther Mae Gilbert (nee Muntz) passed away peacefully at home, Friday, June 24, 2016. Mrs. Gilbert was born Oct. 4, 1940 in Dover, to the late Lester W. (Tony) Muntz and Leona Carter Muntz. Over the years, she worked at the Dover Air Force Base in the NCO, JC Penny's, First People's Bank of New Jersey, Tiny Tots Nursery School and St. John of God School. Mrs. Gilbert was a lifetime member of Immanuel Union United Methodist Church in Cheswold. She enjoyed gardening, movies, long drives on Sundays, dining out and shopping (she was excellent at finding a bargain) as well as trips to Rehoboth Beach boardwalk. Mrs. Gilbert loved music and dancing to the oldies, jazz and especially Motown and Elvis. She loved spending time with her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard Gilbert, of Camden; son, Vincent Gilbert and his wife, Kimberlee, of Newark; daughter, Shanna Rosan and her husband, Mike, of Felton; grandchildren, Bryan and Brandon Gilbert, Avery, Tessa and Tyler Rosan; her namesake, Esther Marie Johnson, her husband, Frank and their family, of Dover; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, she will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Immanuel Union United Methodist Church, 756 Main Street, Cheswold. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gilbert loved flowers and her church, flowers or contributions made to Immanuel Union United Methodist Church in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
