Emily J. "Jane" Schrader, 79

MIDDLETOWN - Emily J. "Jane" Schrader of Middletown died Saturday, June 2, 2007, in Union Hospital, Elkton. She was 79.

Mrs. Schrader was born on Sept. 16, 1927, in Earleville, Md., daughter of the late Ralph E. Bailey Sr. and Marion Long Bailey.

She worked for Tilcon Construction Co., where she retired after 24 years of service.

Mrs. Schrader enjoyed her family, gardening and watching baseball, as well as the NASCAR races.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ira N. Emerson; her second husband, George W. Schrader; and a stepdaughter, Melanie Schrader.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty J. Smith and her husband, Alfred of Smyrna; a son, Edward Emerson and his wife, Ginny of Townsend; two stepdaughters, Frances Schrader of Zambia and Doris Sloan of Philadelphia; a step-son, George W. Schrader and his wife, Elsie of Cave City, Ky.; four grandchildren, Chris Pierce, Debbie Shane and her husband, Mike, Lauren Grieder and her husband, Jeff, and Christy Emerson; four step-grandchildren, Debbie Costa, Willy Schrader, Doris Neilson and her husband, Edward, and Christie Salley; nine great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Ralph E. Bailey, Jr. and his wife, Phyllis, Margaret O"Neal and Robert O. Bailey and his wife, Carol.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Summit United Methodist Church, 554 Old Summit Bridge Road, Middletown, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Summit United Methodist Church, 554 Old Summit Bridge Road, Middletown, DE 19709.
