Ellis B. Johnson Sr.

MILLVILLE, Pa. - Ellis B. Johnson Sr., age 82, of Millville, formerly of Newark and Dover, Del., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011. A native Delawarean, Mr. Johnson was born in Wilmington on Nov. 12, 1928, son of the late George and Susie (Rash) Johnson. He worked as a truck driver until an auto accident in 1978; he then changed careers and would go on to accept a position as the manager of Willow Tree Mobile Home Park in Dover, Del. He retired in 2011 after 25 years of service. Mr. Johnson was a life member of the NRA, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, hunting, and puttering around in his garage. He moved to Pennsylvania with his son, Todd, to relax and enjoyed nature. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Betty Ann Rust Johnson; and by siblings, George, Huey, and Margaret Johnson. He is survived by his children, Ellis B. Johnson Jr., Michael L. Johnson (Renée), Robin S. Johnson, Todd A. Johnson, Karen L. Reifendifer (Jacob), and Scott A. Johnson; sister, Mabel Bailey; brother and best friend, Joe McFarland (Evelyn); four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, where visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, Del.
