EASTON, Md. - Ellen Cohee Hicks, of Easton, Md. passed away peacefully at the Hospice of Queen Anne's with her daughters at her side on her 79th birthday, October 29, 2013. She was born in Felton, Del., to the late Norman R. and Margaret C. Cohee. She had been employed as a cashier at Safeway in Easton, Md. and retired after 25 years. After retirement she worked at the Chesapeake Head Injury Center for several years during which time she became the grandmother to four boys. She played an instrumental role in their lives and had a special and unique relationship with each one. She was predeceased by two brothers, James M. Cohee and Robert E. Cohee. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Jarman Kirby (Bill) and their sons Evan and Patrick of Stuarts Draft, Va., and Kathy Jarman Foxwell (Larry) and their sons Austin and Will of Secretary, Md. She is also survived by one sister, Norma Jean Short of Harrington, Del.; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md. A graveside service will take place 11:30 a.m., at Greensboro cemetery.
