SMYRNA - Ella Frances (Altemus) Poore, formerly of Smyrna, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 28, 2007, in Greenville, N.C. She was 84.
She was born Oct. 27,1922.
Mrs. Poore was the owner of Poore"s Home Ice Cream for many years. She was also employed at 7-Eleven, Newark, and Delaware Park Casino, Stanton, before retiring to North Carolina.
She is survived by daughter, Nancy and a son-in-law, William Wisniewski of Walstonburg, N.C.; a daughter, Barbara "Bobbi" and a son-in-law, Jim Gravatt of Townsend; a son, Kenneth Poore of Clayton; her former husband, Robert "Bob" Poore of Smyrna; her beloved grandchildren, Pamela Wisniewski of Lucama, N.C., Mark Wisniewski and his wife Megan of Lancaster, Ohio, Alisha and Jamie Gravatt of Townsend, and Edward and Eric Poore of Wilmington; her great-grandchildren, Nickoles, Emmalee, Mykaela and Nathan, all of Lancaster; her special dog, Baby Doll; her sisters, Elizabeth Miller of Wilmore, Pa., and Jean Tomb of Pittsburgh, Pa.; her brothers, "Dick" Altemus of Brush Valley, Pa., and Donald Altemus of Armagh, Pa.; her sisters-in-law, Agnes "Tick" Altemus of Indiana, Pa., Gretchen Altemus of Armagh, and Rose Altemus of Armagh; a brother-in-law, Richard "Dick" Tomb of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mabel (Heilman) Altemus; her brothers, Clyde, Charles "Chick" and William "Bill" Altemus; and her sisters, Vera Douglas and Nancy Wida.
Services were private.
The family requests memorial donations to "For the Love of Dogs," 5146 Quaker Road, Wilson, NC 27893.
