Deisroth, 93

PARKVILLE, Md. - Elizabeth Speer Deisroth of Parkville, formerly of Rock Hall, died Friday, June 8, 2007, in Oak Crest View Nursing Facility. She was 93.

Mrs. Deisroth was born on Nov. 24, 1913, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Philip Speer and Elizabeth Martin Young.

Following graduation from business school in Philadelphia she worked as a secretary for many different companies.

Mrs. Deisroth met her husband, Jack Deisroth, at a USO tour in Alabama. They married May 26, 1945, and resided in Baltimore County where she worked with Eastern Stainless Steel until they retired and moved to Rock Hall.

She enjoyed knitting.

Mrs. Deisroth was a past worthy matron and treasurer with the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 86 as well as a member of St. Paul"s Kent where she sang in the church choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 15, 1994, and on Jan. 17, 1997, she moved back to Baltimore.

She is survived by a sister, Minerva Speer Young Sacks of Springfield, Pa.; two nephews, Charles W. Deisroth and Albert Deisroth; and two nieces, Gail Rice and Marilyn Kurz.

Funeral services and Eastern Star service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in St. Paul"s Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
