Elizabeth S. Murray, 87

BARCLAY, Md. - Elizabeth S. Murray of Barclay died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at the Chester River Hospital Center, Chestertown. She was 87.

Mrs. Murray was born Nov. 26, 1920, in Barclay, daughter of the late Edward Rochester and Pearl (McCollister) Earle.

She was a lifelong resident of Queen Anne's County.

Mrs. Murray worked for Salisbury Brothers in Ridgely, canning vegetables in the factory.

She was a member of St. Daniel's United Methodist Church, where she served on the usher's board and was a communion steward. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Murray; one son, James E. Murray; two brothers, Charles Edward Rochester and Alton Benjamin Rochester; and two sisters, Mildred Virginia Richardson and Mary Seals.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia G. Dodd of Tacoma, Wash., and Sandra E. Jason of Barclay; three sons, Charles Preston Murray of Barclay, Wayman Lewis Murray of New Castle, Del., and Roger Lee Murray of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Pearl May Wilkerson of Goldsboro; one brother, James Garfield Rochester of Wilmington, Del.; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Community Baptist Church in Barclay. Visitation will be held one hour prior.

Interment will be in St. Daniel's Cemetery, Barclay.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Daniel's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 125, Barclay, MD 21607.
