Eleanor L. (Boyarsky) Dury, and Frank J. Dury passed away within a few short weeks of each other, in Dover, Del. Eleanor passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2021 at the age of 83, and Frank followed on February 3, 2021, after a short illness, at the age of 86.
Frank was born on October 1, 1934 in Orange, N.J. to Frank J. Sr., and Marie Dury, and Eleanor was born February 16, 1937 in Bayonne, N.J. to Herman and Theresa Boyarsky.
After attending high school, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a radio operator in Hokkaido, Japan, from 1952 through 1956. Eleanor graduated from North Arlington (N.J.) High School in 1954 and did secretarial work for several local employers.
After his discharge from the Air Force, Frank met Eleanor, and they married in 1957. Frank's job took them from New Jersey to Florida, and back to New Jersey after several years. Eventually they settled in New Castle, Del., where Frank worked for many years at Chicago Bridge & Iron in New Castle. They raised a family, and after being a stay-at-home mom for several years, Eleanor returned to the work force at B.F. Rich, in Stanton, Delaware.
After retirement, Frank and Eleanor moved to Hartly, Del., where they enjoyed rural life, and road-tripping with their travel trailer to Florida each winter. Frank was an avid ham radio operator (W3DYS) and Eleanor was a devoted reader and crossword puzzler.
Frank and Eleanor are survived by four daughters, Diana Marcus (Chuck), Catharine Dury, Jeanne Davis (Matt), and Lorraine Hayes (John). They also leave nine grandchildren, Jason Marcus, Tess Fulk, Jennifer Steele, Jacob Steele, Jeremy Steele, Joe Dury, Madalyn Lucas, Jack Hayes, Julia Hayes. They were preceded in death by grandson, Jesse Steele. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Frank and Eleanor are also survived by his sister, Marie Jensen; her sister, Irma Davis (Bill); and her brother, Mark Boyarsky (Barbara).
Frank and Eleanor also leave behind their beloved dog, Zoey. Both will be greatly missed by all who knew them.
Services will be private, with interment at the Delaware Veteran's Cemetery, Bear, Del.
