DOVER - Eleanor Kathleen Cross, of Dover, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 89.
Mrs. Cross was born Jan. 10, 1919, in Au Sable Forks, N.Y., to the late Wilfred Yando and Anna Deloria.
Mrs. Cross was a homemaker.
She loved raising her children, and did day care after they were in school.
Mrs. Cross' biggest joy was going to the dollar stores.
She loved butterflies and sitting on her patio, feeding and watching the birds.
Mrs. Cross was a very jovial person who loved to give and receive jokes.
Mrs. Cross was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Reginald B. Cross, on Feb. 11, 2000; two daughters, Lois Anne Cross in 1949 and Colleen Cross in 2003; and a son, Bill Cross in 1970.
She is survived by a son, Bernie Cross of Lantana, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Theresa Cross, with whom she lived; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, Kent County Division, 1151 Walker Road, Suite 202, Dover, DE 19904; or the American Diabetes Association, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
