Stevens, 87 HARTLY - Edith Virginia Stevens was born September 16, 1926 to the late Alma Hackett Mosley and Medford Hutchins. She departed this life on June 13, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Edith received her education at the Mt. Zion Church School the Smyrna School system and Lockerman High School. Edith was employed by the State of Delaware for 30 years. For most of her life she worked two jobs to ensure her family was adequately cared for. She loved to take care of her plants inside and outside. She loved traveling, reading and loved to watch the Family Feud TV show. She also loved shopping on QVC. Edith could often be heard humming the sounds of a traditional gospel hymns. Edith was our solid foundation on which our hopes and dreams have been and will continue to be realized. Edith was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church - She was President of the Communion Steward and a lay speaker. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Stevens; and her brother, Orville Mosley. She leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Nathanial Jr., Thomas, Larry (Diane); one daughter, Cynthia (Kenneth), nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, Agnes Hutchins; two brothers, William Mosley (Christine) and Leroy Mosley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Church family. Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, located on Rt #8/Forrest Avenue, Dover, with a two hour viewing prior. Internment will be at the Mt Zion Cemetery, Marydel, MD All services are entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home
